Staatliche Kunsthalle and Orangerie
The Staatliche Kunsthalle and Orangerie (exhibition hall for fine arts) belong to the great attractions of the capitol of Badenia. Connoisseurs of masterful paintings from the classical periods until the modern times of the twentieth century find their paradise in the Staatlichen Kunsthalle and the neighboring Orangerie.
The Staatliche Kunsthalle mainly presents the Dutch school of painting of the 16th and 17th century, French art from the 17th and 18th century, and paintings of the 19th century represented by the comprehensive collection of Anselm Feuerbach and Hans Thoma.
The Orangerie is used for floating exhibitions – top of the rank works of contemporary art are currently presented.
The Staatliche Kunsthalle can also be reached by walking straightly through downtown heading for the castle from the acora Hotel and Living via Sophien- and Waldstraße within 20 minutes. Then the areas of the federal constitution court and the castle parks are reached. The location of those public parks alongside the castle of Karlsruhe Schlosses with the botanical garden in such a close neighborhood to the downtown aera is a unique attribute of Karlsruhe.
The botanical garden is designed in the style of an English garden with exotic trees and plants. The neatless transition into the Hardtwald makes it an ideal starting point for an enjoyable tour with the bike.
